Why I chose Admissions
It’s hard to believe that I’ve been working in admissions for over 15 years. I still can’t imagine working in any other field. I think what keeps me coming back year after year, is the knowledge that my work is helping students and families through a challenging and stressful process. This is particularly true in my role working with international students and students living and learning overseas. I love helping to explain the American Higher Education system, as well as sharing the many unique opportunities and benefits of a small, residential, liberal arts and science college experience.

Community Involvement
Since joining Macalester, I have been active in professional organizations such as the International Association for College Admission Counseling and the Council of International Schools (CIS), where I serves on the Asia Committee.

Favorite time of the year at Mac
My favorite times of year at Macalester are move-in day and graduation week. I love move-in day because the energy and excitement of our newest members of the Macalester community arriving on campus is a celebration of all our hard work to bring in the class and their potential as they start their Macalester journeys. On the other end of the spectrum, I love graduation week because it’s a time I get to marvel at all our students have accomplished. It’s bittersweet to know they will be leaving campus and going out into the world, but the opportunity to help acknowledge and celebrate their achievements is rewarding.

Love about the Twin Cities
I love that the Twin Cities have all the amenities of living in a vibrant metro area without losing connection to green spaces and places of quiet. I can step out my door and walk through a beautiful local park on miles of trails in the morning, explore a new restaurant for lunch, and then watch my beloved Minnesota United play at Allianz Field that evening. It’s amazing!
