Behavioral Neuroscience
Professor Jean-Marie Maddux (Neuroscience)
This course approaches the study of brain, mind, and behavior from systems-level and behavioral perspectives, laying the groundwork for later study of the neural substrates of motivated behaviors, learning, memory, emotion, as well as aspects of neurodevelopment and neuroplasticity.
From “Goo-Goo” to Grammar Guru: How Babies Crack the Language Code
Professor Christina Esposito (Linguistics)
Babies acquire language at a remarkable pace, understanding complex grammatical structures while just beginning to speak. Learn what the science of linguistics has to say about this amazing feat, while building foundational knowledge of the tools linguists use to understand varied languages spoken across the world.

In Motion: African Americans in the US
Professor Walter Greason (History)
This course explores themes including movement/mobility/migration; work/labor; resistance to systems of oppression; gender/sexuality/culture/performance; politics/citizenship; and sites of (re)memory. As a historian and educator, Professor Greason’s work outside the classroom has included designing Wakanda for Marvel movies and writing a graphic novel on the history of hip hop.
Sounding the Starry Vault: Beethoven and Kant’s Sublime
Professor Mark Mazullo (Music)
Through guided discussion and brief piano performances, Professor Mazullo will introduce participants to Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 32, the writings of Immanuel Kant, and exploration of the far reaches of the universe in this sample class sure to delight all guests, regardless of prior musical knowledge.
