One distinct advantage of Macalester’s urban location is the excellent internship opportunities in the Arts. Macalester students have interned at every major museum, gallery and art nonprofit in the area. Our students are in demand as self-directed, intelligent, adaptive, broadly educated, culturally sensitive workers with excellent educational preparation for arts internship service. Many Art History students use their excellent Macalester background to secure internships at major museums across the country and internationally. Sebastian Eising was an intern at MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, NY in 2019. Michelle Lee was a Curatorial Intern for Museum Diversity at the Asheville Art Museum in 2018. Hilary Schroeder was an intern in the Department of Decorative Arts, Textiles, and Sculpture at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in 2012. Chloe Nelson was an intern at San Francisco Museum of Contemporary Art, 2010. Alberto Rios de la Rosa ’10 was an intern at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice, Italy, Summer 2010. See more examples of Art & Art History internships at the Art Alumni webpage. Visit the Internship Office for current listings of available opportunities.
