Mike is an evolutionary ecologist who studies symbiotic interactions between soil microbes and plants. He is the lab instructor for all of the core course labs – Cell Biology and Genetics, Ecology, and Biodiversity and Evolution. He also offers a soil ecology course and has taught Biodiversity and Evolution. In addition, he is the resident naturalist at Macalester’s Ordway Field Station, where he lives with his two boys, Ian and Miles. In his spare time he enjoys combing the field station grounds with them in search of novel ecological interactions.
