Biology Seminar: "Expanding the Neuron Doctrine"
Please join the Biology Department for this faculty research talk with Michelle Tong!
“Fire together, wire together” has become a renowned adage in neuroscience to refer to the fact that neurons’ connections with one another is what underlie our memories. Much of memory research since Hebb’s famous statement has focused on neurons “wiring together.” Much less attention has been given to non-neuronal mechanisms of memory including the extracellular matrix. In this talk, Dr. Michelle Tong will share results from her lab’s latest work examining the role of perineuronal nets in olfactory long-term memory. She will also share two upcoming projects in her lab.
