Visiting Assistant Professor Tara Hollies will discuss her research on law, justice, and gender in precolonial and colonial Igboland, southeastern Nigeria. The talk will focus on the story of the 1914 Ogidi Women’s Market Protest in which all the women of an Igbo town launched a multi-week campaign against their town’s corrupt warrant chief and the colonial administration that put him in power.
