Meet Community Forestry Leaders

Elmer Francisco, Mendez Hernandez, and Julio Javier Madrid Cruz, representatives from the Association of Forest Communities of the Peten (ACOFOP) will be visiting Macalester. ACOFOP’s mission is to improve the quality of life of forest communities through communal forest management and promoting social, ecological, economic and political sustainability in the Maya Biosphere Reserve of Northern Guatemala. Come meet our visitors and learn about the positive impact that community-led forestry and agroforestry has had on both local people and the forest they call home.
