History and Reparations Panel

The History Department, in cooperation with the Kofi Annan Institute for Global Citizenship, invites the campus community to save the date for an event entitled “History and Reparations”– A Panel to Commemorate the United Nations’ International Decade for People of African Descent.

The event will include short presentations, led by five speakers, and conclude with a Q & A session. The selected speakers will address different iterations of reparations work and the significance of History in conceptualizing that work. Speakers will focus on existing international, state, and local reparations efforts.

The hybrid event will take place in the Weyerhaeuser Board Room on September 25, 2024, beginning at 4:45 pm. The event will also be available to registrants as a webinar.

Co-sponsors include African Studies, Art & Art History, Educational Studies, Environmental Studies, French and Francophone Studies, History, and Political Science as well as the KAIGC and the Provost’s Office.
