Peace/Anti-War Counter-Memory and Ongoing Struggle from Vietnam to Palestine
This free public event on Monday, November 11 will commence at 6:30pm in the Weyerhaeuser Chapel. It will bring together intergenerational and cross-cultural voices of community elders, faculty, and students in an effort to counter-memorialize the Vietnam War and the Vietnam antiwar movement through reflection, dialogue, storytelling, music, and poetry. The space created will include support for ongoing peace/anti-war activism. Food will be served at 6:30pm. The program begins at 7:00pm and features speakers Prof. Karin Aguilar-San Juan, American Studies, Macalester Prof. Christina Hughes, Sociology, Macalester Prof. Ly Thuy Nguyen, Critical Race & Ethnicity Studies, Augsburg University Strong Buffalo/Tom La Blanc, Veterans for Peace Frank Joyce, National Council of Elders.
