Georgia Cloepfil '14 Book Talk
The English and Athletics departments invite you to a Book Talk with Mac alum Georgia Cloepfil '14 on November 19, 11:30-1:00 in the Harmon Room. Lunch will be provided.
Georgia Cloepfil is a writer, former professional soccer player, and Macalester alum. While at Mac, she was a three-time all-region selection and, in her senior season, was named as an All-American and voted conference player of the year. She led the league in goals in 2012 and 2013 and was Team MVP those years as well.
After graduation, Cloepfil took her game to the professional ranks overseas, playing in Australia, Sweden, Norway, and South Korea, before returning to the United States to train with the Seattle Reign of the NWSL.
In 2024, she published her nonfiction debut, The Striker and the Clock, “a nimble, breathtaking book about the beautiful game” of soccer. Her writing has also appeared in The Yale Review, The New York Times Magazine, N+1, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from the University of Idaho and works at Whitman College.
