French Lecture Series: Film Screening and Q&A with Acclaimed Filmmaker Arnold Antonin

Join us for the screening of the documentary by Haitian filmmaker, Arnold Antonin, about the remarkable 19th-century educator, economist, jurist, anthropologist and politician Antenor Firmin (1850-1911), the first intellectual to disprove the European racist ideologies of the time. The film informs us about Firmin’s masterpiece as well as his views on Haiti. The narrative is unconventional, with some operatic commentaries by the historical revolutionary woman Défilé.

The filmmaker will attend the introduction and the post screening Q&A from Haiti.
