Mural Conversation with Natchez Beaulieu

We are so excited to share about the next steps in our plans for a campus mural, uplifting the land we are on and honoring the narratives and experiences of our Indigenous community. We are thrilled to announce that local artist Natchez Beaulieu, Waabigwanikwe (Flower Woman), an Anishinaabekwe from the White Earth Nation, will join our community to make the mural a reality. To see some of Natchez's work, you can find Ashagi Studios on Facebook or Instagram!
A main feature of the mural will be honoring the Four Directions and honoring the Dakota land we are on. However, we also want to hear from you! We are hoping this form can be a starting point to begin capturing your ideas of what you want to see featured that connect to your Indigenous identity. This acrylic mural will cover 'The Link', the mini skyway between the library and Old Main with the completion happening in later Spring.
This session is to learn more about the mural, share ideas, connect with fellow community members, and engage in Indigenous art, perspectives, and care of the land.
As a note, this event will be open to all members of Macalester's community to ensure all are able to engage with this important work happening on campus. If you have any questions please feel free to directly contact Mads Clark ([email protected]) and Mayzong Lee ([email protected]
