Info Session: Summer Study Away in Cambodia

Eat lunch and talk to Macalester students who have studied in Cambodia as Junior Resident Fellows at the Center for Khmer Studies (CKS), and consider applying yourself! The Center for Khmer Studies (CKS) is the premier independent Cambodian Studies research institute in the world, and has been running this fellowship program for many years now.

This year's Center for Khmer Studies (CKS) Junior Resident Fellowship Program applications are available now. Macalester has sent four students in the past (International Studies, Economics, and Political Science majors) to this program, all of whom thrived and benefited. It's a 6-week intensive residential fellowship in Siem Reap, Cambodia, right in the heart of the Angkor temple complex.

Some of these students will join us for lunch on Thursday, February 13, in Old Main 111. They'll talk a bit about their experiences, tips for students considering applying, and more.

Erik Davis (Religious Studies and Asian Studies) strongly encourages students to consider applying for this fellowship and study opportunity: rising Juniors, Seniors, and those graduating in 2025 are qualified to apply for this opportunity.

Fellows live in Siem Reap, Cambodia, a stone's throw from the UNESCO World Heritage site of Angkor Wat and the surrounding, enormous, region, studded with similar temples. It's a very comfortable city and arrangement. There will be classes, independent projects, and lots of engagement with Cambodia.
This is an excellent program and exciting opportunity.
