Arabian Nights Lunch and Lecture
Please join the Classical Mediterranean and Middle East department on Friday, March 14 when we welcome Dr. Ozzy Gündüz to campus. Dr. Gündüz will join the department in the fall and will teach Arabic. His lecture this week is entitled "The Arabian Nights and the Shifting Borders of Literary Prestige: From Popular Tale to Global Classic," which will discuss how translation, adaptation and reimagination have solidified the Arabian Nights as a global literary phenomenon. It will also be a preview of a course he will be offering Spring 2026. All students, faculty and staff are welcome. Lunch will be served in Old Main Fourth Floor Lounge from 12-1
