Equity Educational Workshop | Standing Up for Climate and Environmental Justice
Join us to explore how environmental injustice manifests in real-world contexts and how this issue is deeply intertwined with broader social, economic and political systems. We will discuss the pillars of environmental justice offered by scholars David Pellow and Kyle Powys Whyte, focusing on the importance of our interconnectedness with each other and with non-human nature. Following the interactive workshop, we will feature a panel of local climate and environmental justice leaders to highlight how people can come together and turn theory into action. By learning about strategies for advocacy, policy change, and community-based action, participants will leave with practical tools and renewed motivation.
Facilitated by Christie Manning, Environmental Studies, Sasha Lewis-Norelle, COPAL, and Adisa Preston, ‘25.
Featuring guest panelists: Krystle D'Alencar, MN EJ Table; Sasha Lewis-Norelle ’21, COPAL; Aru Shiney-Ajay, Sunrise Movement.
Thank you to our partners in Environmental Studies for collaborating on this workshop.
