Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Breakfast

This year Macalester will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through three events.


On Monday, January 21, 2019, Macalester will be a host simulcast site for the 29th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Breakfast, sponsored by the General Mills Foundation, The United Negro College Fund and Interfaith Action of Greater Saint Paul. The second opportunity to commemorate King’s legacy takes place on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Macalester students will have an opportunity to engage in a half day service project with Second Harvest Heartland. The third program during the MLK day week will be a Panel Discussion "Beyond “I have a Dream:” Exploring the Depth of Dr. King’s Work for Justice." The panel discussion will take place on Thursday, January 24, from 4:45 to 6 p.m., in the chapel and will feature: William Hart, Margaret W. Harmon Professor of Religious Studies, and Crystal Moten, assistant professor of African American History.
