Alumni Lunch-and-Learn with Heather Howard '03, Senior Global Health Advisor at American Refugee Committee

Have lunch and chat with Heather Howard '13. You'll learn about her 15-year career in public health and have your questions answered. Lunch provided; space is limited, you must register to attend.


Heather is currently a senior global health advisor at American Refugee Committee in Minneapolis and holds a master's degree in public health from the University of Washington. While at Macalester, she majored in international studies and anthropology and minored in music. She received the Bonderman Fellowship in 2010 from the University of Washington which allowed her to travel for eight months to Micronesia, Laos, India, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Morocco, and Argentina.


Her public health background involves working with communities experiencing health inequities, including mothers and children in developing countries, populations affected by complex humanitarian emergencies, and refugees/immigrants in Minnesota. Heather has worked at Futures Group International, New Americans Community Services, Minnesota International Health Volunteers, and for the Georgetown University Institute for Reproductive Health, among other organizations. She has been a researcher, fundraiser, adjunct professor, grant writer, ESL teacher, and program manager.
