Symposium on "Shifting Borders"
Latin American Studies, American Studies and the Provost's office present:
"Shifting Borders: Movilizaciones Inciertas/Mobilizações Incertas
The symposium will address the multifaceted ways migration is politicized. It is a part of the series on Confinement, Borders and Resistance.
It will feature speakers: Alejandro Velasco (NYU), Edward Paulino (CUNY), Luciana Chamorro (Columbia U), Deborah Boehm (U. Nevada), Verónica Montes (Bryn Mawr), Lorena Muñoz (U. of M.), Xavier Tavera (U. of M.) as well as three artists from Studio Thalo who will create a mural documenting the morning panel.
The morning session will examine case studies in Nicaragua, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic. The afternoon session will emphasize the U.S. and focus on the Latinx community.
Lunch will be provided.
