Pianist Dion Cunningham performs an exciting program of solo piano music, featuring works by Mozart, Bartok, and the virtuoso Sonata in B Minor of Franz Liszt. Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Dion graduated from Macalester College in 2006 with majors in Biology and Music. He went on to earn a Master of Music degree at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park. A prize winner at numerous competitions, Dion is a sought-after musical collaborator whose interests and talents extend beyond piano to conducting and music education. Join us in welcoming Dion back to campus, at this recital, and again at his performance of the Piano Concerto No. 1 of Franz Liszt with the Macalester Orchestra on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 8 p.m.
