Philosophy Colloquium: Katia Vavova

Please join the Philosophy Department for the first of our fall speaker series featuring Professor Katia Vavova, Mount Holyoke College, giving a talk titled "Moral Responsibility without Blame."

Philosophical orthodoxy has it that if you're morally responsible for some bad act, you're blameworthy for it. Dr. Vavova thinks this view is mistaken and leads us to misunderstand our agency and mistreat one another. She argues for an alternative view on which we can be morally responsible and yet not blameworthy.

This hour long lecture will be at 4:40pm on Thursday, September 19 in NEILL 401 with discussion following. Light refreshments will be served.
