Earth Day Teach-In: Environmental Justice & Agriculture

Macalester Compassionate Action for Animals (MACCAA) is sponsoring an Earth Day event on April 22 from 7:30-8:30 PM in collaboration with Compassionate Action for Animals, UMN Compassionate Action for Animals and Cookie Cart (Zoom link). The event will include guest speakers, a Q&A session, small-group breakout discussion, and a final debriefing period. The guest speakers include Wendy Pilot, Michael Chaney and Ben Lilliston. Wendy Pilot is a co-host of Native Roots Radio, and is a well-known advocate of humanitarian issues involving Native Americans, as well as environmental and animal rights issues in Minnesota. Michael Chaney is a food activist and the founder of Project Sweetie Pie, an urban farm training program for young people in North Minneapolis. Ben Lilliston is the director of rural strategies and climate change at the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy. He works with Midwest, national and international partners to build a policy framework for a just transition for farmers and rural communities.
