German Walpurgisnacht

An evening with food, fire, and music at the Walpurgisnacht-Feier at the German House! Come roast something over the fire, enjoy some German tunes, and welcome in the warmer months! Costumes encouraged!  Do your best impression of a witch or a devil for the chance to win a costume prize!

What is Walpurgisnacht?Exactly 6 months from Halloween, Walpurgisnacht is the night that witches from across Germany were said to gather and celebrate the arrival of spring on the Brocken, the highest peak in the Harz Mountains. To protect themselves from the witches, locals would light large fires and make loud noises. Today, Walpurgisnacht is celebrated in the Harz region with bonfires and festivals.
