Faculty Recital: Randy Bauer

Faculty concert featuring music composed by Randy Bauer, Associate Professor of Music.

Bauer will be presenting the world premiere of his multi-movement suiteMigration Story, which was inspired by recent human migration events. It is scored for 10-piece ensemble, featuring Bauer on piano and Andrew Rathbun on saxophone.

Randy Bauer is an accomplished composer and jazz musician. In 2013, he was named a McKnight Foundation Fellow in Music Composition by the McKnight Foundation of Minnesota. He also received a major fellowship in 2006 from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Bauer has been a resident artist at Yaddo, the Ucross Foundation, and the Atlantic Center for the Arts. He has also received many regional and national awards, including three ASCAP/Morton Gould Awards for Young Composers. Bauer's music has been performed all over the world and has appeared on Albany and Cedille Records.
