Information for Faculty and Staff

Academic Attire/Regalia

Wearing regalia for the Commencement ceremony is strongly encouraged. The Provost’s Office has a number of regalia sets with Macalester hoods available to check out  for commencement. We have a variety of sizes and quantities based on previous demand and continue to add additional sets in the more popular sizes.

Please stop by Weyerhaeuser 215 to check out regalia during the following times:

  • Tuesday, April 30, 11am-1pm
  • Wednesday, May 1, 10am-12pm and 1pm-4pm
  • Monday, May 6th, 11am-1pm

Please plan to return your borrowed items on Tuesday May 14th or Wednesday May 15, from 9am-11am and 2pm-4pm.

Please email [email protected] with questions about academic regalia.

Commencement Line-up and Procession

Please gather at 9:45 a.m. in the Hall of Fame Room on the ground floor of the Leonard Center wearing academic attire.  The procession begins at 10:15 a.m.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Field House on the second floor of the Leonard Center.  The robing/staging area will remain the Hall of Fame Room.

Volunteer for Commencement 2024!

Every year we rely on faculty and staff to help us make Commencement a success for our graduating seniors and their families. If you’re able to volunteer During Senior week, several roles are available.

Some volunteer roles also include a ticket to the ceremony. There will be a very limited number of tickets available to those who are not volunteering. Demand for tickets is high this year, in part because the high school graduation of many in this graduating class was impacted by the pandemic.

To see what roles also include a Commencement ticket, please visit the sign up sheet. We are still assessing the number of tickets that will be available for staff or students who are not volunteering and wish to attend Commencement. More ticket details will be shared in the Mac Daily during the last week of April.
