Independent Study
The independent project allows a student to further research a proved topic by faculty sponsor beyond the curriculum with guidance from the instructor. You and your Faculty Sponsor should work together to plan all aspects of your independent project. Students planning independent projects may pick up a learning contract at the Registrar’s Office. In order to be approved for independent study, you must be in good academic standing. In addition, you must have some previous course work which directly relates to the methodology and subject matter of the project. You may not pursue as an independent study a topic that is covered in a regular course or a learning opportunity that meets the criteria of the definition of an internship. You may earn credit for independent projects.
