En La Frontera Del Arte
Michael Curran ’18 and Miranda Harris ’18
En La Frontera Del Atre (On the Margin of Art) is a documentary to help address the problem of the erasure of the local artistic experience and the histories along the El Paso-Juarez border. This team will work with the community of artists in both the Us and Mexico to create a documentary to highlight their experience and voices.
Occupation Stories
Miho Itabashi ’18 and Tara Kaushik ’18
Occupation Stories is a visual arts project to help Okinawan women address the problem of a lack of visibility around their ongoing resistance to the US military occupation. This team will go to Japan, work with the community, and create a photograph collection and film to document the experiences of the women in occupied Okinawa.
Stay Woke Poetry
Kiante Miles ’20 and Ethan Levin ’19
Stay Woke Poetry is a program to help high school English students to learn new ways to address disagreement and conflict using poetry. Leading three poetry workshops in Ok, this team will help students learn to talk about their ideal, beliefs, and difference.
Sustainable Menstrual Hygiene
Amritha Subramaniam ’20 and Nikita Naik Mood ’19
Sustainable Menstrual Hygiene is a project to help solve the problem of lack of access to cheap, sustainable and stigma sensitive menstrual hygiene products to women in rural India. This team will travel to India to interview women from culturally different villages to discuss their experiences surrounding menstruation, and interview local governments, hoping to find new solutions to help women gain more access to hygiene projects.
GirlsOnBikes
Lutfe-E-Noor Rahman ’19 and Rachel Stromsta ’20
GirlsOnBikes is a project to help girls ages 10-16 to solve the problem of unsafe travel to school in the rural area of Sirajganj, Bangladesh. This team will travel to Bangladesh to work with rural communities to host workshops on bikes, including riding lessons, rules and safety, and reflection sessions.
