Professor Milligan does fieldwork on Menominee, an Algonquian language spoken in Wisconsin. Her research includes work on the phonology, morphology and phonetics of Menominee. She has done two ethnopoetic translations of traditional Menominee tales, and is currently working on a dictionary of Menominee with Dr. Macaulay at the University of Wisconsin. At Macalester she has taught Endangered and Minority Languages; 100 Words for Snow: Language and Nature; Sociolinguistics; and Historical Linguistics.
