• Navigating Campus

  This interactive campus map will help you find your way around campus. It shows you where to find campus buildings, parking, and accessibility features.

  If you need to meet with Human Resources on your first day to complete new hire paperwork, you can find us in the 77 Mac Building on the 2nd floor. Access to the building is by key card only – please call Human Resources at 651-696-6280 for access.

  Macalester maintains a number of parking lots on campus which can be found on the campus map. Community members who wish to park on campus should submit an online parking application. There is no cost to park on campus.  Additionally, street parking is also available.  Additional information can be found on the Public Safety website.

• New Hire Paperwork

  On your first day of work, please arrive at Human Resources (77 Macalester Street, Room 201) at 9:00 a.m. to complete your onboarding paperwork.

  The following forms and documents must be completed as a new employee.

  Background Check: Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. After accepting the offer, you will receive an email from Orange Tree requesting additional information to complete your background check. This must be completed within 48 hours of receiving.

  I-9: This will be completed by HR on your first day. Please review the list of acceptable documents and bring those with you on your first day.

  W-4: Please complete the online forms on the Payroll website. Please note, you will need to complete both the Federal W-4 as well as the Minnesota W-4.

  Direct Deposit: Once you have received your Macalester email and have set your password, you will have access to our employee self service portal called 1600grand. To set up direct deposit, you will log into 1600grand, click on Employee Dashboard, Click on the Pay Information pulldown, and then click on Direct Deposit Information.

  Benefits Enrollment: During your first week at Macalester, you will meet with a benefits administrator from HR via Zoom to enroll in your benefits. You will receive a calendar invitation to your Macalester email account. During this meeting  you will review the available benefits, but we find it is helpful for new employees to review the Benefit Summary & Guide beforehand. Please bring full names, birth dates, social security numbers, legal sex, and home addresses for all benefit dependents and beneficiaries.

  Macalester College is nestled within the St. Paul neighborhood of Mac-Groveland and is within walking distance of a variety of restaurants, shops, and essential businesses.
