Serve as an Orientation Leader or Orientation Coordinator

Orientation Leaders (OLs) play a crucial role in welcoming new students to Macalester College and ensuring a smooth transition into college life. As ambassadors of the campus community, they provide guidance, support, and information to incoming students during orientation programs. The position requires an openness to learning facilitation skills, strong communication, and a passion for fostering a positive and inclusive campus environment. To prepare for this important role, OLs engage in a comprehensive leadership training program prior to the start of Orientation. Students who complete both OL training and Orientation will receive a $900 stipend for volunteering their time.

Orientation Coordinators (OCs) play an integral role in the creation of a welcoming environment for new students and their families as they transition into the Macalester College community. The OCs also assist with the planning, implementation, and coordination of Orientation Leader training and all Orientation content and events. They also serve as peer leaders and mentors to the OL cohort. This is a paid ~30 hour/week summer position open to three students. OCs must have already served at least one year as an OL to be eligible.
