MICKEY SMITH: Morphologies, curated by Heather Everhart
Macalester’s Law Warschaw Gallery is a vital program of the Art and Art History Department, hosting two curated and two student group exhibitions annually—the juried Spring Salon followed by the art major capstone presentation. The gallery is led by director and curator Heather Everhart and operated with collaborative engagement from Law Warschaw’s student gallery assistants. The gallery assistant is a pre-professional work-study position and critical to all aspects of the gallery’s work.12–1:30 p.m. | Lunch & Friday (Jumu’ah) Prayers with Macalester Muslim Student Association

Join us for an evening of theater as our talented students perform selections of six different plays by six different student playwrights through Macalester’s THDA Playwriting classes, curated by Birdie Keller ’25! Three different staged readings of these plays will be performed on Friday and Saturday during Mac Fest, so each performance will be different each night. Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open fifteen minutes before the performance begins.Registration is appreciated but not required.
7–10 p.m. | Ultimate Frisbee Alumni and Community Event

Come and join us for the annual Ultimate Frisbee Alumni and Community Event. Compete with and against the current teams and fellow alumni or hang out and cheer your heart out! This is an alcohol-free event hosted by our Open and Gender Inclusive Ultimate Teams. All Mac Fest attendees are invited to join as spectators.Registration is appreciated but not required.

Saturday, September 28, 2024 8−10 a.m. | 5K Fun Run/Walk
Shaw Field/Leonard Center Portico/Stadium Track
Join us for the Mac Fest 5k Run/Walk. This event is for the entire Macalester community and is designed to be fun—no need to be an Olympic athlete! Faculty, staff, students, family members, alumni, dogs, and strollers are welcome. There is no fee to participate, but all participants must have completed the waiver; registration is available on-site. Check in begins at 8 a.m. at the Leonard Center Portico, and the run/walk begins promptly at 9 a.m. at Shaw Field. The first 500 5K participants will receive a commemorative wristband at check-in.Registration is required.

10 a.m.−3 p.m. | Ordway County Fair
Ordway Field Station
Explore the Ordway Field Station, Macalester’s “other campus”, at the Ordway County Fair, featuring trail walks, a petting zoo, student-led scavenger hunts, an alumni-led beekeeping class (two classes only—separate registration required, see below), archival audio projects to share memories, student research posters, art activities, food trucks, and more.There is no parking allowed at the Ordway Field Station, so free, round-trip shuttles from Macalester’s campus to the Field Station are available once every hour 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Shuttles will depart at 62 Macalester Street, outside the Admissions building.
Registration for a departure time is required if you plan to take a shuttle. Return shuttle seating is on a first-come, first-served basis; you do not need to register for a return shuttle time.
If you wish to plan your own transportation, the nearest parking option (approximately one mile from the Ordway Field Station) is at Pine Bend Elementary School, 9875 Inver Grove Heights, MN 55076. Macalester will offer van rides between this parking lot and the Field Station. This option does not require registration.

Ordway Field Station
Join Mac grad and Pollinate Minnesota founder, Erin Rupp ‘04, and safely hang out with a working honey bee colony. Put on a beekeeping suit and hold frames, see life cycle stages up close, spot the queen (if we’re lucky) and sample honey from Ordway’s diverse prairie ecosystem! We’ll also learn who pollinators are, what’s going on with them and how we can help. Class duration: 90 minutes. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver–watch your email for more details upon registration.
