Math Peer Tutor Job Description

MAX Center peer math tutors assist students enrolled in 100 level MSCS courses. They work with students one-to-one or in groups and engage in research and ongoing projects in the MAX Center and on campus. They must participate in bi-weekly math tutor meetings and complete the tutor training program.

  • Math tutor candidates must have completed MATH 137 – Single Variable Calculus and have earned a grade of B+ or better.
  • Math tutors must have excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of their subject area, and the ability to work well with individuals and groups.
  • In addition to applying through JobX, applicants will also be required to complete a written application and come in for an interview with MAX Center Staff. Dave Ehren, Coordinator of Quantitative Support, will facilitate this process.
