Two Tenure-Track Positions in Statistics
Macalester College invites applications for two tenure-track positions in Statistics, at the assistant or associate professor level, to begin Fall 2018. Candidates who have, or are completing, a Ph.D. in Biostatistics or Statistics are preferred, but closely related fields may also be considered.
They must have a strong commitment to both teaching and research in an undergraduate liberal arts environment. We are especially interested in candidates who are enthusiastic to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses, from the introductory to advanced level, and to mentor undergraduate research.
Macalester offers an attractive environment for statisticians. We offer majors in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, and Computer Science. On top of minors in Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer Science, we have recently developed a new Data Science minor. We pride ourselves on our innovative courses, close relationships with several client disciplines, and vibrant record of conducting research with undergraduates. We have an interest in candidates whose work spans disciplinary boundaries. Some potential areas of interest include machine learning, causal inference, and advanced statistical modeling (eg: spatial statistics, generalized linear mixed effects models, time series analysis, structural equation models).
