Paul Cantrell

Senior Instructor (NTT)

Olin-Rice Science Center, 231

Professor Cantrell mixes teaching and software consulting. In his 20+ years in the software industry, he has created software for dozens of organizations ranging from tech startups to Fortune 500s to arts nonprofits. His teaching focuses on the art and craft of creating software for humans with humans, and on the rich connections this creates between seemingly distant spheres of human thought. His interests include programming language design, information design, and algorithmic art. Prof. Cantrell teaches Software Design and Development and a variety of other computer science courses, runs the Dev Garden, and mentors participants in Mac Startups and Macathon. He leads a secret double life as a composer and pianist, and is utterly smitten with his family.
