Professor Halverson’s research is in algebraic combinatorics, specifically, combinatorial representation theory, where he uses objects from discrete math—such as graphs, diagrams, partitions, and tableaux—to give concrete descriptions of abstract phenomenon from algebra. He involves students in his research projects and accompanies them to national mathematics meetings. Professor Halverson teaches courses in discrete mathematics, algebra (linear, abstract, and computational), calculus, and topology.
