Wind Symphony

Wind Symphony

The Wind Symphony provides an opportunity for Macalester students to rehearse and perform the concert literature for winds and percussion under the direction of Aaron Isakson. Macalester has a long, rich history of performing music for concert band and the Wind Symphony continues to build on this tradition. The Wind Symphony is open to all Macalester students at all levels of ability.

Students who play the following instruments are welcome to join the band: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba, timpani and percussion. Macalester College possesses a limited number of instruments that it can make available to interested students.

Auditions

No auditions are required. However, if a player would like to play the First Part, they can arrange to audition for the director.

Registration

Registration for ensembles is taken care of by the directors of the ensembles during the first week of classes. Be aware there is some lag time between when students turn in registration information to the director and when the class appears on records. The first rehearsal of the 2024 Wind Symphony is Monday, September 9 at 7:15 PM. Please attend if you’d like to register/participate.
