Creating a resource for art students

A group of students from a variety of academic backgrounds spent their summer with Professor Megan Vossler sketching up something special: A free, introductory figure drawing resource that centers subjects whose figures represent a broad spectrum of bodies—not just the subjects traditionally seen in figurative art. “I hope that they have been able to think a little bit more deeply about representation in the context in figurative art,” Vossler says of her work with the students. “And why that type of representation is really important, even at the very foundational level.” This project was supported in part by Macalester College’s Making Meaning grant from the Mellon Foundation, through which Professor Megan Vossler received a Digital Liberal Arts faculty fellowship.
