Ian Geljzer ’25, an international studies major, interned at the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office. Using Macalester’s Handshake program as well as a grant from Macalester, Ian was able to find an internship that aligns with his career goals. “It’s really fulfilling to see that the work I do [helps] people in court,” says Ian.
The Macalester Summer Internship Grant gives for students a stipend to complete 10-week unpaid internship during the summer. In summer 2024, over thirty students received grants to intern at locations that otherwise could not afford to pay them. Applications are being accepted for the summer of 2025 now.
