Paul Dosh’s Course Resources page
Before joining the Macalester faculty in 2004, Paul Dosh taught at Carleton College, the University of California at Berkeley, and San Quentin Prison. At Macalester he has served as director of the Latin American Studies program and chair of the Political Science department. A Fulbright-Hays scholar, he is an expert on Latin American politics and social movements and the author of Demanding the Land: Urban Popular Movements in Peru and Ecuador. His articles appear in Journal of Latin American Studies, Latin American Perspectives, Latin American Politics & Society, Mobilizing Ideas, NACLA Report on the Americas, Perspectives on Politics, Political Science Educator, and PS: Political Science & Politics.
As a Montessori educator, Paul creates innovative learning environments that emphasize self-teaching, peer-teaching, and civic engagement. His courses include Foundations of Comparative Politics, Latin American Politics, Comparative Social Movements, Urban Politics of Latin America, Senior Research Seminar, and the Chuck Green Civic Engagement Fellowship.
As an educator, scholar, activist, and poet, Paul has been engaged with social justice struggles in the Americas for most of his life and has worked in ten Latin American countries. He co-founded the Building Dignity community center in Lima, Peru. A prison abolitionist, he has worked on prisoner liberation campaigns and was a founding board member of Children of Incarcerated Caregivers.
