My fellowship at the Immigration and Refugee Center of Lutheran Social Services was an amazing experience! I spent my summer splitting my time between refugee resettlement and immigration casework, allowing me to gain invaluable experience in both fields. I worked alongside an amazing team of caseworkers to resettle newly arrived refugee families, working one-on-one with clients to connect them to resources and aid their transition into the US. In the immigration department, I helped expedite the Tuesday walk-in clinic process and worked one-on-one with clients to help develop and submit their cases. Some of the highlights of my summer include building trust with clients and bonding with my wonderful coworkers and supervisors. I’m grateful to the Chuck Green Fellowship for providing me the funds necessary for this incredible summer.
