I worked with a nonprofit organization called Alliance for Sustainability (AforS). AforS is a small nonprofit founded in the 1980s and focused on finding sustainability solutions.
I spent a good portion of my time helping the organization to stay organized by creating a more efficient and effective communication method. Because AforS is a small nonprofit, I had to be open to working with various projects. Some of my focus was: website maintenance, administration, curriculum development, social media, grant writing, partnership, and policy research.
I was glad to spend the summer navigating and learning new skills to help foster a successful nonprofit. Although the work might’ve seemed mundane and not rewarding, I was happy to gain a new outlook on nonprofit management through a closer perspective. Moreover, the support from my Chuck Green Cohort made this experience invaluable.
