Research Approval

Research involving human participants must be approved by Macalester College’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) before the research begins. This includes all research with human participants that is conducted as part of the capstone course or in collaboration with a faculty member’s research lab. Review by the IRB may take several weeks. A detailed description of the process and timeline for approval is provided here.

Research involving non-human animal participants must be approved by Macalester College’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
