Affinity Reunion Celebrations

Affinity Reunions are additional reunion celebrations around a particular interest, identity, or affinity for something. During Reunion 2024 there will be several opportunities to connect around these special celebrations.

Alumni of Color Collective

  • The Alumni of Color Collective was established to facilitate conversation and networking among the diverse alumni of Macalester.

    Friday

    Snacks at Mac
    5:00 – 10:00 p.m.

    Meet by the Alumni of Color Affinity flag to catch up with old friends and make new connections.  Catch a special musical performance by Salsa Del Soul Quintet featuring Shai Hayo ’96  between 7–9 p.m. Cash bar available. Several food trucks featuring a variety of cuisines will be on-site from 5–10 p.m. with choices sure to please all palates.

    Alumni of Color Lecture and Gathering

    Join the Macalester alumni of color community for a talk by Corgan Archuletta ’24 titled “Designed for Life: Unearthing Just and Sustainable Urban Design through the Daylighting of Phalen Creek”. After the talk, gather with other alumni and learn how to get involved in the Alumni of Color Reunion planned for Reunion 2025 as well as growing campus programs. Light refreshments provided.

    The annual Mac Hac Golf Fundraiser raises funds to help enhance the experience of Macalester student-athletes through program support and Scots L.E.A.D. leadership development. Registration is separate from Reunion 2024 and can be done through the Athletic Department website at athletics.macalester.edu.

    Join Macalester Swim and Dive Coach Kyllian Griffin, 2022 and 2023 MIAC Women’s S&D Coach of the Year, as he shares lessons learned, successes achieved, and challenges faced during his time with Mac Athletics and how athletics is part of a holistic collegiate experience.

    Macalester Alumni of Moderation invite you to attend our annual session and discuss the state of viewpoint diversity at Macalester…and now elsewhere. In 2006, our group was the first in the nation to raise this critical issue and now alums from many colleges and universities have prompted other such groups.

Scots Pride Alumni

  • Scots Pride unites Macalester’s LGBTQIA+ alumni across the globe for fun, social events, and networking. The group also seeks to support students, staff, and faculty through advancing a positive LGBTQIA campus climate. Scots Pride strengthens the college’s history and mission by enriching Macalester’s diverse community and fostering bonds between alumni and the campus.

    Join the Macalester Scots Pride community for a talk by Dr. Myrl Beam, associate professor, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, about his work on the Tretter Trans Oral History Project. Stay after the talk to gather with other alumni and hear ways we are building the Scots Pride network and connections on campus. Light refreshments provided.
