Macalester Dining Advisory Committee
The mission of Macalester Dining Advisory Committee is to help ensure that the dining experience of campus meets the needs and preferences of the student body while also considering factors such as nutrition, sustainability, and diversity.

Student Employment Advisory Committee
The Student Employment Advisory Committee serves as a liaison between the Macalester community and Student Employment. SEAC addresses the concerns of faculty, staff and students with regard to student employment and of those who supervise student employees. The committee also serves the Student Employment Office in an advisory capacity in determining the current and future direction of student employment at Macalester College. SEAC meets monthly at a mutually agreed upon time. Students must have a work-study award to serve on this committee.

Administration and Finance Advisory Committee
The Administration and Finance Advisory Committee will work with the CFO & Vice President of Administration & Finance, giving input in all areas of this division including Business Services, Facilities Services, High Winds Fund, Human Resources, and the Investment Office.

Advisory Group for Sexual Respect
We are looking for students who are passionate about sexual respect and everyday consent to join our Advisory Group for Sexual Respect that is working to reduce domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVSAS) in the Macalester community! We are a multi-disciplinary team who are working together to implement prevention programming, DVSAS response protocols and procedures, and more robust services and support for victims/survivors. Applications are open to all students, and as our work centers our BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, international students, and students with disabilities, we specifically encourage students from these communities to apply if interested! We meet monthly on Wednesdays from 11:30-12:30.

Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Committee
Are you interested in working to reduce the risks students experience around substance use, including alcohol, cannabis, and other drugs at Macalester? Apply to join the Alcohol and Other Drug (AODA) Advisory Group! Our group will work to coordinate evidence-based prevention, policy, and procedures to reduce the harm experienced in connection to substance use on our campus. We expect that you will share your thoughts and experiences as a student at Macalester with the group. We’re looking for a diversity of students by class year, experiences, identities, and perspectives, including first-year students, and highly encourage you to apply if you are interested.

Classrooms and Learning Facilities Advisory Committee
The Classroom and Learning Facilities Advisory Committee works to maintain and improve classroom, lab and learning spaces on campus, including AV technology, furnishings and their configuration, lighting, acoustics, marker boards, and all the physical elements of these rooms and spaces. Pedagogical implications of the spaces provided for teaching is an important concern of the committee. In addition, the committee provides support for long range planning and budgeting processes at the College. The committee reports to the Provost and to the Vice President for Administration and Finance. The committee meets once a semester and once in the summer.

Hamre Center Student Advisory Board
The Hamre Center Student Advisory Board is a group of students that will meet with the Executive Director (and likely members of the Hamre leadership team) 1-2 times per semester. Meeting agendas will include student input on which Hamre services, policies, and programs are working well and/or not working so well, giving feedback on proposed ideas, programs, policies, and generating ideas on how to create closer alignment between Hamre and Macalester students of all identities and lived experiences. Advisory Board members may also be invited to serve on search committees for Hamre staff positions.

Provost’s Student Advisory Committee
The Provost’s Student Advisory Committee will serve as a student advisory board to the Executive Vice President and Provost, Lisa Anderson-Levy. The Provost makes important academic and faculty-related decisions, oversees a broad range of departments (all academic departments and faculty, The Institute for Global Citizenship, Academic Programs and Advising, Entrepreneurship, DeWitt Wallace Library, Institutional Research, and Student Affairs). The creation of this committee is intended to provide the Provost with a window into student perspectives on a variety of topics. Additionally, it is an opportunity for students to regularly connect with the Provost as well as to learn about the nuances, challenges, and excitement that comes with making tough decisions as the Chief Academic Officer. Meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every month from 8:30 to 9:30 am on Zoom.

Student Affairs Advisory Committee
This committee serves as an advisory board to the Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Kathryn Kay Coquemont. The group provides feedback and ideas about campus life and student experiences, so that the Division of Student Affairs continues to amplify student learning, engagement, wellness, and a love for Macalester.
