Costs and Financial Aid

Participating in a study away program includes paying Macalester or program tuition (whichever is higher), individual program costs for room and board, international airfare and local transportation, visa costs, and related fees. If you select a program that exceeds Macalester’s comprehensive cost, you will be responsible for financing the additional costs. It is rare for a study away program’s tuition to exceed Macalester tuition.

Financial aid will be applied

If you are eligible to use your Macalester financial aid (except work study), it will be applied to your study away semester. The Center for Study Away will automatically provide study away cost information to the Financial Aid Office for all approved students. You do not need to take action to initiate this process.
