I am delighted to be back at the Center for Study Away for this fall 2023 semester. I originally came to Macalester in 2015, retired in January 2021 when we were all still working remotely, and am now excited to have this semester advising our students in person once again.

My academic background and personal passion is in Medieval history and art history, earning both my BA and MA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I first studied abroad in Northumbria on the border of England and Scotland, as an undergraduate, where I became captivated with the life and energy I discovered in ancient ruins and medieval architecture. I have had the privilege of co-leading over 25 medieval history, art & architecture short-term study away programs throughout the UK and elsewhere in western Europe with a senior faculty member at UW-Madison.

Prior to joining Macalester initially, I worked for nearly three decades in various administrative and academic capacities within the University of WI system, always finding my direct interactions with students the most rewarding of all experiences. We moved to Saint Paul in 2009 to live near our growing family, with whom I spend much of my personal time.
