ACTC Conference Returns to Macalester

Coming up at the end of this month, the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities (ACTC) English conference will return in person! The ACTC includes Macalester, Hamline, St. Catherine, St. Thomas, and Augsburg University. Hosted by the five colleges on a rotating basis, it’s Macalester’s turn again; this will be the first in-person rendition of the conference in a few years. Click here to learn more!
English Major Featured in Spring Playwriting Festival

This March, the Theater and Arts Department is putting on the Spring Playwriting Festival, which will include work by Macalester’s own students. The Words caught up with one of the students who will be sharing their work, Birdie Keller ‘25, and talked to them about their experiences in the Theatre and English Departments. English Classes in the Twin Cities

A big advantage for Macalester English students is being able to access and explore the wide range of museums and events related to arts and literature within the Twin Cities. Professors at Macalester take full advantage of that and provide engaging off-campus experiences for the students in their courses. Ty Chapman Featured by MACSlams

On Saturday, February 18th, MacSlams hosted its first poetry slam of the spring semester, featuring poet Ty Chapman, in the Weyerhaeuser Chapel. Ty’s performance was rhythmically and sonically compelling and strikingly intimate, and you can read more about it here.
