Abdo Sayegh Rodriguez

is originally from Venezuela, trained with Ballet Nacional de Caracas Teresa Carreño School, and his early performing career included both of Venezuela’s leading companies: the Ballet Nacional de Caracas and Ballet Nuevo Mundo de Caracas. Abdo danced with Minnesota Dance Theatre (MDT) starting in 1998, and became MDT’s Associate Artistic Director in 2007. He received a 2007 McKnight Foundation Artist Fellowship for Dancers, and was featured in the film documentary SOLO:2×1 directed by Bob Hammel. Abdo has served as a faculty member of MDT’s Dance Institute and the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists (SPCPA), and presently teaches at the University of Minnesota and TU Dance Center. Joining TU Dance in 2011, Abdo was hired as consultant during the formation of TU Dance Center’s educational program and became the executive director. Abdo holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Caracas,Venezuela. He serves on the board of dancemn.org, has served as a member of the SPCPA Arts Advisory Council, and was honored by the Ordway Center with its 2015 Education Award for Excellence in Community Engagement
